Former champion amateur rider Oliver Greenall trained point-to-pointers for six years before taking out a public training licence in 2015. Based at Stockton Hall Farm in Oldcastle Heath, near Malpas, Cheshire, Greenall enjoyed his most successful season as sole trainer, financially, in 2021/22, when he saddled 36 winners and amassed £318,000 in prize money. In April 2022, he entered into a joint-licence arrangement with former weighing room colleague Josh Guerriero, who had previously been his assistant trainer.
Greenall and Guerriero saddled their first winner together, Blue Collar Glory, ridden by Craig Nichol, in a mares’ maiden hurdle at Sedgefield on May 10, 2022. Victory for Concetto, ridden by Henry Brooke, in a handicap chase at Musselburgh on March 1, 2023 brought up 50 winners in their first season, which they finished with 62 winners from 332 runners, at a creditable 19% strike rate. Greenall and Guerriero have continued in similar vein in recent seasons, saddling 57, 58 and 45 winners in 202324, 2024/25 and 2025/26. In fact, 2025/26 was their most profitable so far, with Grand National runner-up Iroko contributing the lion’s share of just over £845,000 in prize money.
The pair have had their share of high-profile victories, too, including two at the Cheltenham Festival. The aforementioned Iroko won the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle under Aidan Kelly in 2023 and Jagwar (owned, like Iroko, by J.P. McManus) won the TrustATrader Plate Handicap Chase under Jonjo O’Neill Jnr. in 2025. At Aintree, Gesskille, ridden by Henry Brooke, won the Grand Sefton Handicap Chase, over the Grand National fences, in November 2023. Just over a week later, at the Cheltenham November Meeting, Homme Public, also ridden by Brooke, won the Grade 2 Arkle Challenge Trophy Trial Novices’ Chase. It is also worth noting that Iroko is 16/1 third favourite for the 2027 Grand National in the early ante-post lists.
